Impressive performance by Rashmi Ranjan Parida, Shiv Sundar Das and Sanjay Satpathy helped Orissa garner five points by virtue of first-innings lead against Bihar in their four-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match, which ended in a draw on the last day at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack today.
Riding on a century by Parida (115, 207b, 9x4), 94 by Das (198b, 3x4) and unbeaten 54 by Satpathy (121b, 4x4), host Orissa made a strong total of 390 after skipper Das won the toss and decidied to bat. The 115 by Parida was his second successive Ranji Trophy century, following his 156 against Delhi earlier this year.
Though Bihar made a strong reply, a four-wicket haul by Satpathy enabled Orissa take a slender four-run first-innings lead, restricting the visitors to 386. When the match ended as draw, Orissa were 84 for no loss in the second innings with Das and P Jayachandra unbeaten on 44 and 39 respectively.
